Retinal Conditions

Macular Degeneration: Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD or AMD) is the leading cause of blindness in America for people over the age of 60. There are two types of Age Related Macular Degeneration, Wet & Dry.

MACULAR DEGENERATION

Diabetic Retinopathy: Diabetic retinopathy is the leading cause of blindness in working age people. Terrifyingly, Diabetic Retinopathy doesn’t show symptoms until severe damage has already been done. Those with type 1 or type 2 diabetes should have their eyes checked at least once a year.

DIABETIC RETINOPATHY

Retinal Vein Occlusion: After diabetic retinopathy, Retinal Vein Occlusion (RVO) is the second most common retinal vascular disorder. This vision loss is usually painless, acute and unilateral. Though there are milder cases, if left untreated, RVO can lead to glaucoma or severe visual impairment.

RETINAL VEIN OCCLUSION

Retinal Detachment: Retinal Detachment is caused by a posterior vitreous detachment leading to a retinal tear or hole. The detachment pulls on the retina and causes a small hole or tear so fluid can pass. Read more about first signs or symptoms to look for.

Uveitis: Uveitis is the inflammation of the uvea which is the middle layer of the eye. This inflammation can lead to cataracts, glaucoma, and retinal detachment. Read more about first symptoms as well as possible causes here.
