Gowtham Jonna, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in retinal and vitreous care at Retina Consultants of Austin, with offices in Austin, Lakeway, Marble Falls, and Round Rock, Texas.
Dr. Jonna received a scholarship from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, to pursue his undergraduate education and graduated with multiple awards for his academic excellence. After graduating with his degree, he went on to complete his medical school training at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society during his junior and senior years.
He completed an internship at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, engaging in intensive research for retinoblastoma (eye cancer found primarily in children) under the guidance of Dr. David Abramson. Following his internship training, he pursued his residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and was elected chief resident. He also received fellowship training in retinal surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Upon completing his studies as a first-year medical student, Dr. Jonna developed a strong fascination with vitreoretinal diseases and has ever since been improving upon his knowledge and expertise of the field.
Since 2017. Dr. Jonna has been providing eye care at Retina Consultants of Austin. He looks forward to providing you with the compassionate and patient-centered care you deserve.
