Chirag Jhaveri, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist at Retina Consultants of Austin. Dr. Jhaveri provides retinal surgery to patients in Austin, Lakeway, Marble Falls, and Round Rock, Texas.
Dr. Jhaveri completed his undergraduate education at the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a part of an accelerated honors program. After graduating, he returned to his hometown in Houston and attended the Baylor College of Medicine.
He later received internship training at the Emory University School of Medicine, as well as residency training at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center and the Ochsner Medical Center, where served as a chief resident during his senior year. He then completed an intense fellowship in vitreo-retinal diseases and surgery at Northwestern University in Chicago gaining invaluable experiences in rare retinal diseases.
Dr. Jhaveri holds special interest in complex vitreoretinal diseases as well as common eye conditions like diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration.
As an integral member of the practice family since 2012, Dr. Jhaveri is proud to provide expert eye care in vitreo-retinal diseases to patients at Retina Consultants of Austin. He also served as vice chairman of the Diabetic Retinopathy Clinical Research Network (DRCR).
Dr. Jhaveri is actively involved in research for new and better treatment options for retinal diseases at Austin Research Center for Retina and is part of numerous clinical trials as principal investigator and sub-investigator. He has also published several papers.
Dr. Jhaveri is fluent in Hindi and Gujarati.
